Change History

Jabber, or XMMP protocol, is still getting more and more popular. And I really doubt that ICQ protocol is future of IM. It's needless to lose Licq users because of the fact that this great piece of software doesn't support it...

Yes, Jabber is definitely something we all like to see in the future. But I rather think that this will be something for Licq 2.x, when the new API for plugins is running. Writing a Jabber plugin for the old API would be a bit futile, I guess?

I have a better idea; how about making XMPP/Jabber the core protocol? All the other protocols will eventually become obsolete anyway. Though at the very least if Licq doesn't get some form of XMPP support, it'll probably become ancient history. Plus once AOL an S2S gateway for XMPP, there will be no real need to maintain the OSCAR stuff and who knows, AOL may even move away from that stuff itself eventually.
